Coyote Run Loop Trail Description

The Coyote Run Loop Trail is a great way to experience what the Cheyenne Mountain State Park has to offer. From mountain views, granite outcrops, wildlife, and mixed pine forests—there is no shortage of scenery to admire. Note much of the path is exposed, so make sure to wear sun protection and bring plenty of water in the summer months! Additionally, the State Park charges an entrance fee which typically costs about $9USD per vehicle.

Your journey along the Coyote Run Loop Trail begins from the trailhead off JL Ranch Heights Road at the Cheyenne Mountain State Park visitors center. From here, your loop can be completed in either direction, but we prefer to trek counterclockwise on this one. Departing from the trailhead, track north along the Coyote Run Trail. Follow this path through the meadowlands as it gradually curves west.

As you wander west, enjoy views of Cheyenne Mountain looming above. Eventually, the route will divert south, crossing over JL Ranch Heights Road.

Meandering through the granite outcrops, you will once again cross over the road before being delivered back to the trailhead. If you still have some gas left in the tank, then head back out and explore the Zook Loop!
