There is no shortage of scenery to admire along the Captain Jack’s via Mount Buckhorn and Gold Camp Road. This epic trek reveals both the beauty and diversity of Colorado Springs topographies. From valleys to peaks, you will experience it all along this epic route. Note that the final section of your hike travels along the Gold Camp Road, so you will have to wander along the shoulder! Additionally, the route is shared with bikers, so be mindful of passers-by!

Embark on your adventure along the Captain Jack’s via Mount Buckhorn and Gold Camp Road from the Gold Camp Trailhead. From here, head northwest along the High Drive Trail. Hike up through the woodlands decorated with granite outcrops to an intersection. Here, take the rightmost Captain Jack’s Trail through the saddle between Mount Buckhorn and Mays Peak. Now wandering east, you will be granted sights of the Red Rock Canyon Open Space and Garden of the Gods through the tree breaks.

Enjoy the verdant terrain and mind your footing on the uneven path as you begin your descent. Soon you will reach the trail’s end. Here, keep right and hike west along the Gold Camp Road all the way back to the trailhead, marking the end of your adventure.
