Shafer Canyon Overlook Description
The Shafer Canyon Overlook is a great little stop just off of Grand View Road in the Island in the Sky District of Canyonlands National Park. The overlook itself is not fenced so this may not be the best hike for someone who is prone to vertigo or afraid of heights. This trail is a great place to get out with the whole family but do keep an eye on the little ones and make sure they stay far back from the edge. Don’t forget the camera- the views of Shafer Canyon from this overlook are absolutely stunning.
From the parking area, follow the short path east for a few hundred yards to the overlook.
Soak in the views of the canyon below before heading back to the car and on to the next adventure.
