The Mesa Arch trail is a short hike to a stunning sandstone arch on the edge of a 500ft cliff. This hike is busiest at sunrise when the sun peaks above the horizon, illuminating the arch from below. Due to its impressive size and perfect positioning, the Mesa Arch is one of the most photographed arches in Canyonlands National Park
Getting there
The Mesa Arch Trailhead is on the east side of Grand View Point Road, 6.1mi south of the Island in the Sky Visitor Center.

Mesa Arch Trail Description
The hike to Mesa Arch is a family-friendly outing with spectacular views. The trail itself has almost no shade, so be sure to bring good sun protection and lots of water for everyone in your hiking party. This hike is one of the busiest spots in Canyonlands National Park, especially at sunrise.
This arch is a popular sunrise hike for a reason—the image created by the first rays of sunlight flaring through the opening of Mesa Arch is dazzling to say the least. Peek through the arch to see Washer Woman Arch, Buck Canyon, and the La Sal Mountains in the distance.
From the Mesa Arch Trailhead, follow the path on the right to head east along the loop for 0.3mi to the Mesa Arch Overlook.
Set up the camera and watch the sunrise or take a long break at the arch before completing the loop back to the trailhead.
