This family-friendly hike is a great way to stretch your legs and do some exploring around the multi-colored sandstone spires. This area is unique to Canyonlands National Park as the nourishment of the Big Spring allows large trees and desert plants to flourish.

This hike begins at the Big Spring Overlook Trailhead at the end of Needles Main Park Road.

Big Spring Canyon Overlook Trail Description
The Big Spring Canyon Overlook Trail is a short, family-friendly hike to two beautiful viewpoints. This trail is uneven and rocky so, unfortunately, it is not accessible to wheelchairs or strollers. This hike doesn’t see a lot of traffic, so it’s a great place to go with the family to enjoy some peace and quiet in a lovely little section of Canyonlands National Park. Consider packing along a picnic and enjoying lunch amongst the brush and the mushroom-like spires of Big Spring Canyon.
From the trailhead, follow the path for about 100ft to a divide. Take the path on the right to head northwest for 0.1mi to the end of the trail.
Take some time to explore around the unique rock formations before turning around and heading back out to the trailhead.
