Lower Glen Feshie and the Frank Bruce Sculpture Trail

The Lower Glen Feshie and the Frank Bruce Sculpture Trail is a brilliant short walk with a unique twist. The remarkable sculptures of Frank Bruce, along with superb mountain views along this trail, are bound to keep the whole family entertained. Although this walk is suitable for the whole family, note that some of the sculptures are a bit spooky and may not be as well received by the littlest ones! Excellent waymarked tracks and footpaths make this walk pleasant to navigate, and the terrain is usually fairly dry all the way through.

From the car park, set out on the waymarked trail, where you’ll soon be greeted by an array of faces and figures carved into the wood by Frank Bruce. A brief climb will lead to the higher track, followed by a right turn to join the footpath. Enjoy the short descriptions accompanying the sculptures, demonstrating Frank Bruce’s fascinating commentary on landscape and politics.

Enjoy the meandering path through the stunning woodlands, soon reaching a wall that once served to encase the Invereshie House garden. Make your way into the walled area where you can continue to observe Bruce’s works and post up for a refreshment at one of several picnic tables. Exit the walled garden via the side gate at the far end and then head left. The trail continues down to the riverside, where you can soak up the beauty of the River Feshie. Further on, cross the wooden bridge above the water and spot the yellow marker post, which indicated the path to take alongside a telegraph pole.

After crossing over the old stone bridge, head up the road and cross it before joining the track that heads alongside some houses and soon leads to a track up the glen. Some time will pass before a signpost will indicate where to make a right turn to join an uphill path that mirrors a stone wall. Pause to enjoy the marvellous views of the glen, then continue onto the forest road to reach a tarmac road, which leads back down to the car park where the walk began.
