The Glen Banvie Trail and Blair Castle Walk is a great adventure in Cairngorms National Park that takes in the grounds of an historic estate and its scenic surroundings. While out on the trail, you will skirt around the grounds of Blair Castle - the ancestral home of Clan Murray - before making your way through Glen Banvie to explore the hills and forests to the northwest. The mixture of historic sites, rugged terrain, and beautiful scenery makes this an exceptional walking route for a wide variety of outdoor enthusiasts.

Glen Banvie Trail and Blair Castle Walk Description

Whether you are looking to learn about some local Scottish history or explore the rugged terrain of Cairngorms National Park, the Glen Banvie Trail and Blair Castle Walk is a fantastic way to do both at the same time!

Setting out from the trailhead, you will make your way to the northeast to skirt around the grounds of the historic Blair Castle, before turning to the northwest to take in views of the Hercules Gardens and the castle itself. Here, you will continue onto the northwest alongside Banvie Burn, following it uphill through Glen Banvie to access the rugged terrain of the hills outside of Blair Atholl.

Continuing along the edge of the woodland landscape, you will eventually come to the edge of Bruar Water, at which point, the trail will turn to the south. Following along the stream, you will pass through Baluain Wood and make your way downhill, before following the trail as it bends back to the east. Here, you will further descend the hillside and traverse the grounds of Blair Castle, enjoying some more amazing views of its beautiful architecture on the way back to the trailhead where you started the walk.
