Henrhyd Falls Walk

The Henrhyd Falls Walk is a fairly easy-going adventure in Wales that can be completed by a wide range of walking enthusiasts; however, a good portion of the route after visiting Henrhyd Falls features rocky terrain that can become quite slippery and dangerous. Be sure to wear proper walking boots that are waterproof, particularly after periods of heavy rainfall.

Although this riverside portion of the walk is a bit on the rugged side, the spectacular views of the highest waterfall in South Wales and the tranquil woodland setting is more than enough to make up for the trouble. This is a great adventure if you are hoping to get outside and reconnect with nature in a beautifully scenic forest/riverside setting.

Setting out from the car park, you will make your way into the cover of the forest and follow the path to the southwest for the next 0.2mi. Arriving at a fork in the trail, take the path on the left and follow it across the banks of Nant Llech, keeping left until you arrive at the beautifully scenic location of Henrhyd Falls. Here, you can explore the area and take in the views of the 90ft tall cascading falls that were used to portray Batman’s cave in The Dark Knight Rises.

After visiting the falls, retrace your steps along the trail and cross back over Nant Llech, heading left along the footpath to make your way through the serene woodland valley. Here, you will continue along the forested path to the northwest for the next 1.3mi as it runs parallel to Nant Llech, providing you with a relaxing waterside atmosphere and the chance to view local wildlife.

Once you have arrived at the edge of the road, cross directly over to the other side in order to pick up the footpath, continuing slightly downhill through the forest until you reach the banks of the River Tawe. As this marks the terminus of the route, pause here for a quick break before heading back along the exact same route to return to the car park having completed the Henrhyd Falls Walk.
