Giant Steps Trail Description
The Giant Steps hike is one of the lesser-known trails in the Lake Louise area but is one of the most beautiful. This is a great day hike that will provide some solitude from the thousands of people at Lake Louise and Moraine Lake. Watch for road closures and let the traffic staff know you will be using the Paradise Valley trailhead.
This trail takes hikers up Paradise Creek and passes by the stunning Lake Annette, which makes a great stop for a rest. You will gain elevation as you climb through the incredible and other-worldly Paradise Valley. Mount Temple rises high to your left, while Sheol Mountain, Mount Aberdeen, and the Mitre stand tall on your right. Make your way to the Giant Steps at 6.4mi, where you will find enormous rock formations that truly look like steps made for giants. Enjoy the solitude at the Giant Steps before returning the way you came.
