O Circuit: Trek to Perros Glacier Trail Description
Traversing a densely forested swathe of Torres del Paine National Park, the O Circuit: Trek to Perros Glacier is a great adventure that features a variety of terrain. Make sure to pause at each of the wonderfully scenic viewpoints to soak up the natural beauty of the park’s northern areas – as long as the weather cooperates, that is!
Leaving behind the breathtaking shores of Lake Dickson, you will follow the trail as it enters into the tree cover and initially leads to the southwest to meet the banks of the Río de los Perros. From here, the path bends to the south and begins climbing uphill, before descending once again to arrive at a scenic viewpoint known as Mirador del Valle de Los Perros.
After taking in the beautiful views, you will follow the path as it heads southeast for a short distance and crosses over a stream. Here, the route will turn to the southwest along a route that runs parallel to the river. Here, you will steadily gain elevation and cross over the Río de Los Perros, following the rocky path as it climbs steeply uphill.
Eventually, you will break free from the tree cover and arrive at the edge of Laguna Los Perros, where you will have stunning views looking out to the glacier. From here, continue along the trail for a short distance to the west, where you will quickly arrive at the campsite. Be sure to take some time to rest up in advance of tomorrow’s physically demanding excursion on the O Circuit: Trek to Grey Glacier.
