Coastal Trail and Yurok Loop

Treat yourself to an amazing hike along the Coastal Trail and Yurok Loop. This awesome adventure would be a great addition to anyone’s hiking itinerary. Enjoy the dramatic views of the rugged coastline, the driftwood beach, and the lush woodlands while getting a workout in. As this route is located next to the ocean, the conditions are likely to be colder and damper, so dress in layers! Additionally, it can be quite windy—so make sure to hold onto your hat!

Your journey along the Coastal Trail and Yurok Loop begins from the trailhead off Redwood Highway. From here, the Coastal Trail travels northwestwardly before diverting west towards the coastline. Now wandering along the shoreline you will be granted impressive views of the rugged coastline and the rocky outcrops that adorned the ocean floor. The Coastal Trail will eventually lead you to Hidden Beach, a driftwood littered beach. Explore the beach, then head back the way you came, this time turning right onto the Yurok Loop Trail at the junction.

At this point, the Yurok Loop Trail will guide you along the banks of Lagoon Pond and through the woodlands. This path will eventually reconnect with the Coastal Trail, which you will merge onto, retracing your steps along the route back to the trailhead.
