Illilouette Falls via Panorama Trail

Immerse yourself in the picture-perfect Yosemite terrain along the Illilouette Falls via Panorama Trail. This wonderful trail provides breathtaking scenery and a killer workout. Let the panoramic views of Yosemite Valley and its granite domes inspire you as you wander down to the surging cascades. Make sure to pack a picnic, as there are several places to sit along the granite boulders and revel in the cascades as you eat lunch. The path is rocky and rough in sections, so wear a sturdy pair of footwear! Note: the National Park charges an entrance fee; refer to the NPS website for additional information.

Setting out from the Panorama Trailhead, the Illilouette Falls via Panorama Hike tracks south down a single-track path. Enjoy the sights of the encompassing wilderness as you hike down to the waterfalls. Notice Half Dome, Liberty Cap, Grizzly Peak and countless other incredible granite outcrops. Eventually, you will reach an intersection and keep left along the Panorama Trail to navigate several tightly wound switchbacks on the way down to the waterfall.

Cross the bridge over Illilouette Creek, then explore the cascades. Take a rest on one of the natural granite benches and let the sounds of the cascades lull you into a state of relaxation. When you are through admiring the falls, retrace your footing along the path back to the trailhead.
