Olmsted Point Nature Trail Description
The Olmsted Point Nature Trail is a scenic walk that exposes dumbfounding vistas of the granite landscape and Tenaya Lake. Located just off Tioga Pass Road, this route is easily accessible and perfect for a spontaneous hike. Take note that the Tioga Pass Road is subject to seasonal closure! Additionally, the path up to the overlook mainly travels along granite slabs which can be extremely slippery after rainfall, so mind our footing! Yosemite National Park also charges an entrance fee, check out the NPS website for more information.
Embark on your mini-excursion along the Olmsted Point Nature Trail from the trailhead off the parking lot. From here, the path is clearly signposted, directing adventurers to the southeast. With limited trees interrupting your view, you will be rewarded with panoramic vistas even before you summit the point. Hike up the path, ignoring the intersecting routes, and the trail will soon curve you north.
From atop the peak, you will be granted 360-degree panoramic vistas of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range, Yosemite Valley, and charming alpine lakes, including Tenaya Lake. Admire the scenery, and when you are ready, retrace your footing along the path all the way back to the trailhead.
