Devil’s Pocket Loop Description
The Devil’s Pocket is a gorgeous 10.0mi hike through a tectonic depression known as a “graben”. This hike is long and hot, so bring lots and lots of water and some salty snacks to get you through your day. If you are looking to spend some quality time in the area, camping is available at the Devils Garden Campground along the trail. Despite its ominous name, the Devil’s Pocket is a lovely hike over gorgeous, varying desert terrain.
From the Elephant Hill Trailhead, follow the path south for 1.3mi to a divide. Take a right and head west for 1.1mi, past a trail that splits off south, to a second divide. This fork marks the beginning and end of the loop. Take the path on the left to hike the loop clockwise and stay right at all subsequent divides until you circle back to the starting point after approximately 5.5mi.
When you are done the loop, return along the main trail back to the parking lot.
