Knockan Crag Trail Description
The Knockan Crag Trail in the Scottish Highlands definitely grants you a bang-for-your-buck experience, with its short distance and consistent stunning and creative scenery! When we say creative, we mean that you’ll see sculptures, including the unique Globe structure crafted by Jo Smith. And the views overlooking Assynt from atop the crag aren’t so bad either!
You’ll go towards the visitor centre from the car park to read fun facts about rocks over millions of years old. After, follow the path toward the junction, where you’ll take the lower path, signed with ‘Trails.’ Pass a pipe rock display before continuing up and turning left to ascend by the Globe structure. Following signs for Moine Thrust to go by two exposed rock bands before heading up along stone steps. Revel in views of the Inverpolly area as you climb! If you quickly go to the left, you’ll get the chance to check out views over Assynt, too! After, go back to the main path and continue towards the crag. Shortly after that, you can quickly sidetrack to the left to visit Eagle Stone viewpoint.
After this diversion, the path will follow switchbacks descending towards the car park where your walk began!
