Bear Lake to North Inlet Hike

The Bear Lake to North Inlet Hike is a must add to your Rocky Mountain National Park itinerary if you enjoy lengthy excursions. This is an awesome lengthy day hike, but it’s an even better overnight expedition as there are several dispersed campsites along the route. If you are venturing this trail as a day hike, make sure to head out in early morning, no later than 8AM. Don’t forget to leave a car at the North Inlet Trailhead or arrange for pickup there, because the last thing you will want to do after a long day of hiking is figure out transportation. Wear layers and pack plenty of water as insurance against the changing elevations and conditions along the path. Located within the Rocky Mountain National Park, hikers are required to purchase a park pass.

Embark on your escapade across the Rocky Mountain National Park from the Bear Lake Trailhead. The Bear Lake to North Inlet Hike follows the Bear Lake-Bierstadt Trail up to the Flattop Mountain intersection. From here, trek west along the Flattop Mountain Trail up to the summit. Ascend several switchbacks up to the summit of Flattop Mountain before merging onto the North Inlet Trail. Hike along the ridge of the Continental Divide and down the North Inlet Trail to Hallett Creek. Follow the route past several dispersed campsites and through the diverse landscapes.

Eventually, you will pass through the Summerland Park’s luxuriant meadow which is a great place to spot wildlife. Follow this path all the way to the North Inlet Trailhead, marking the end of your adventure.
