Langdon Hill and Golden Cap Walk Description
Overall, the Langdon Hill and Golden Cap Walk is an easy-going adventure that doesn’t feature much in the way of challenging terrain. While there is a bit of an incline leading up to the summit of Golden Cap, the amount of physical fitness required is limited thanks to a series of steps leading up and down the hill. You will still want to wear proper walking shoes for this adventure, particularly if there has been a fair amount of rainfall in the days leading up to your walk.
As mentioned above, this is an awesome low-effort route that will produce maximum views for the little trouble you will experience. The woodland slopes of Langdon Hill are lovely to pass through, and the heather-covered summit of Golden Cap offers some exceptional coastal views. If you find yourself in the area and are a bit pressed for time, you can’t go wrong with the Langdon Hill and Golden Cap Walk.
Setting out from the National Trust car park, you will make your way to its southwestern end in order to find the trail. Turning left here, you will make your way to the south and traverse the forested slopes of Langdon Hill.
Eventually, you will pick up a trail branching off to the southwest and break free of the tree cover to begin climbing up the slopes of Golden Cap. Here, you will make your way up some fairly steep steps; however, they are fairly short lived and you will find yourself at the summit in no time.
After taking in the beautifully scenic views that stretch out along the Jurassic Coast, you will make your way down the same stairs that you used to climb the hill and enter back into the forest. Instead of heading to the right along the same path as before, turn left here and follow the path as it loops around the backside of Langdon Hill, eventually bringing you back to the car park where you began your adventure.
