The walk from Bucks Cross to Clovelly is a great seaside adventure in Devon that will see you traverse some undulating terrain to reach the village of Clovelly. While out on the trail, you will make your way along the edge of a forested hillside that borders the Bristol Channel, stopping at a few scenic vantage points for incredible views across the water. There are a few ups and downs along this trail, but it is all a part of the journey!
Getting there
To reach the trailhead for the Bucks Cross to Clovelly Walk from Bideford, drive southwest along Clovelly Road for 1.9mi and take the first exit at the roundabout onto A39, following it for 5.3mi. Make a right here and continue on for 0.4mi, turning left to enter the car park.

The Bucks Cross to Clovelly Walk is a popular route along the Devon Coast, as it features a beautiful forest atmosphere, lovely views of the water, and a fun to traverse trail with undulating terrain. Setting out from the trailhead, you will make your way west through Bucks Valley Wood, keeping the forested slope of the hill on your right as you work your way through Barton Wood and The Hobby. Make sure to stop in at the scenic viewpoints along the trail, as they offer a great chance to catch a few glimpses of the Bristol Channel. Eventually, you will wind your way through the village of Clovelly, where you can pop into the shops and restaurants as you make your way to the edge of the water. Once you have reached the end point of the walk at the Red Lion Hotel, simply turn back and retrace your steps to the trailhead.
