In the event that you need a break from long distance walks in the countryside and are after a leisurely stroll with plenty to look at and experience, the Exeter City Walk is the perfect option for a relaxing day walk. Setting out from the starting point of the walk on Quay Lane, you will head to the southwest along Commercial Road and cross over the bridge, continuing on to the west to cross over the River Exe. Once you are on the opposite bank, the trail will see you pass by several small shops before taking the ferry across the river. Continuing the loop through the city, you will follow along the old city wall and marvel at the history held within each brick, eventually making your way past the famous Exeter Cathedral and through the Northernhay Gardens. From here, you will turn back to the south to once again pass by the cathedral on the way to the car park where you began.
