Brownstone, Froward Point and Coast Path Circular Walk Description
Although the Brownstone, Froward Point, and Coast Path Circular Walk is fairly short and can be utilized as a fun family activity, there are a few steep sections along the trail and others that feature some rugged coastal terrain. If you are travelling with children, keep an eye on them and avoid the edge of the cliff where there are steep drop offs. Be sure to wear proper walking boots when setting out on this adventure. Additionally, dogs can remain off-lead for the majority of this walk, except for the final section where livestock will likely be present.
Setting out from the car park, you will head south along the path to descend the hillside toward the Brownstone Gun Emplacement Battery that was utilized during the Second World War to protect the English Coast. Here, you can explore this unique piece of history before turning to the east to climb back uphill to a point overlooking Froward Cove. Along this portion of the walk, you will meander above the cliffside and enjoy views over several coves and bays, with the blue expanse of the English Channel before you. Reaching a junction near Puddicombe Cove, turn left and follow the signs for the car park to climb back up the hillside on the return leg across the open countryside to the trailhead.
