Lockhart Trail Description

While the Lockhart Trail is definitely a challenging hike, there are amazing forest views and a tranquil atmosphere along this route that will put your mind at ease, even if your body isn’t. The trail sets out from the side of the road and immediately crosses over the flowing waters of Lockhart Creek. From here, you will follow a course to the east that runs parallel to the creek for the duration of the hike. As you make your way through the damp forests of cedar trees, you will steadily gain elevation along the narrow trail that is often overgrown in areas and requires a bit of light bushwhacking to proceed.

Take some time to appreciate the remote nature of this hike and the natural beauty of the dense forest that comes with it. Sections of the trail are fairly steep, and there are drop offs to the side that could potentially be dangerous in wet weather, so make sure to watch your footing while working your way up the trail. Once you reach a junction with the Baker Lake Trail, turn back and retrace your steps along the creek while relishing the beautiful forest scenery on your return to the trailhead.
