Gibson Lake Trail to Keen Lake Description

Hiking the Gibson Lake Trail to Keen Lake is an amazing experience that will allow you to visit several scenic lakes within the park and take in the picturesque subalpine landscape. The trail sets out from the eastern shore of Gibson Lake and climbs uphill through the trees along a series of switchbacks. From here, you will be able to look back towards the trailhead for a nice view of Gibson Lake to the south, Mount John Carter to the west and Kokanee Peak to the east. Pressing on, down the trail, you will eventually exit the tree cover into a lovely meadow that will be filled with wildflowers if you can time your hike for the late summer.

Pressing on through the meadow, you will arrive at the tranquil shores of Kokanee Lake. To continue on to Keen Lake, follow the path to the north, as you skirt alongside the edge of the water with the lake on your right and the mountains on your left. Eventually, you will pass by the Keen and Garland lakes on your left before arriving at the larger Kaslo Lake. Take some time to explore the trails surrounding the beautiful lake and gain an appreciation for the rugged beauty of Kokanee Glacier Provincial Park before heading back along the same trail to return to the trailhead.
