The Bere Point Trail is a 6.5mi out-and-back hiking route near Sointula on Malcolm Island that travels along the coastline for amazing views across the water towards mainland British Columbia. Along the trail, hikers will make their way through a dense stretch of Pacific temperate rainforest that is filled with mammoth moss-covered trees, wooden staircases, and a vibrant green forest floor. This is an amazing hike through scenic but sometimes challenging terrain that can be difficult for some hikers to traverse due to steep trails and stairs.

Bere Point Trail Description

Although it offers a truly breathtaking rainforest setting and beautiful views across the water to the rugged mountains of mainland BC, the Bere Point Trail is not suited for all hikers due to its rocky/root-covered paths and a number of stair sections. Make sure that you can handle the continuous changes in elevation that can be found along the trail before setting out for your hike.

From the parking area, follow the trail to the northwest as it works along the coastline and around the first point. Relax as you stroll through the amazing forest setting that is teeming with all sorts of plant and animal life, and take in the intermittent views that stretch across the blue water toward the rugged interior of the province. When you reach the second point along the water’s edge, take in the views of the rugged coastal landscape before retracing your steps along the trail to return to the parking area where you began your hike.
