The Llanbedr loop walk is the perfect way to reconnect with nature without needing to break much of a sweat. This idyllic pathway begins beachside and meanders through the lush rolling fields of Snowdonia National Park, skirting the Morfa Dyffryn National Nature Reserve and the Rhinog National Nature Reserve. Since the path is paved and gains little elevation, it’s perfect for families with strollers and those looking for a less demanding (but still very rewarding) stroll in the outdoors.
Getting there
To get to the beginning of the Llanbedr loop walk, drive south on A496 from Llanfair for about 0.3mi. The trailhead is next to Caegwyn, right behind the church on the side of A496.

Llanbedr Loop Walk Description
While the Llanbedr loop walk is beautiful, some users may find the signage to be somewhat lacking. Download the GPS map to ensure you stay on track and don’t miss any turns.
This walk starts just outside of Llanfair, overlooking the Irish Sea. On a nice day, stopping by the beach after completing the walk is a perfect reward! You can take the loop either way, but this guide will follow the clockwise direction.
Begin by following Caegwyn north, passing behind the church. You’ll continue on this road until the intersection with Fronlief Hir, where you’ll take a right. Fronleif Hir eventually turns into Fronllech Hir. This road soon curves left while a smaller adjacent road curves right, so stay left.
Continue until you pass Capel En-gedi on your left, and take the immediate right at this intersection. You’ll continue along this portion of the path, staying on the main pathway at all junctions and crossing four small streams.
Upon arriving at a T-junction, take the path to the right. You’ll briefly follow Afon Artro and then pass Pen-y-bont. Continue along the path, enjoying the river beside you until it widens. Now walking more directly beside the widened river, you’ll pass Capel Gwynfryn and Capel Seser. Stay on the pathway when other roads intersect. Not far from here is the lovely William Morris Rose Garden and the Aber Artro Hall Gardens. If you fancy a detour, give these apricot-pink, fruity-smelling blooms a sniff.
Once in Llanbedr, take a right turn just before the Ty Mawr Hotel. You’ll follow this section until it intersects with A496. Here, take a right. Walk along the road until you reach the end of Caegwyn off to the right, where you can pick up this path and follow it back to your starting point.

Snowdonia Mountains
While the sea and greenery are fantastic views on their own, when combined with a view of the Snowdonia mountains, you’re in for a real treat. The Llanberis trail allows you to admire the peaks in the distance as you walk. This is one unique spot where you don’t have to choose between the mountains and the beach!
Insider Hints
The Children’s Farm Park & Play Barn not far from the route is a fun stop if you have kids.
After your walk, bring a towel and a book to the lovely Harlech Beach, which enjoys a great view of the Snowdonia mountains.
You can walk this loop counterclockwise if you’d like to end it a touch early in Llanfair.
