Woodland Walk Trail

The Woodland Walk Trail is a popular route through Pinecone Burke Provincial Park due to the two waterfalls along the trail. Because of these scenic highlights, the trail can be heavily populated, so it’s best to arrive early to get a parking spot and beat the crowds to the falls for a few moments of serenity at the water’s edge. Additionally, this area has a fairly extensive network of trails and navigating them can be fairly tricky. Make sure to bring a GPS or trail map with you to ensure that you stay on the right path when completing this loop trail.

Navigation issues aside, this trail is an amazingly scenic hike through the forest that is sure to provide a few hours’ worth of outdoor enjoyment. The two main attractions, Sawblade and Woodland Falls, are about as majestic and beautiful as a waterfall can be, and the trail is littered with a number of mountain creek crossings and smaller waterfalls that are sure to keep your interest piqued. This short hike really does make for a full day’s worth of adventure and beautiful sights.

Setting out from the parking area, take the Garbage Trail to your right, following it northeast until you reach a junction with the Woodland Walk Trail. Follow this to the left to make your way toward the waterfalls. Keep straight along the trail as you make your way over two creeks, where you will approach a fork in the trail. Take the trail to the right to follow around the loop in a counterclockwise direction.

At the northeast corner of the trail, you will find a path leading toward a vantage point for Sawblade Falls. After taking in the views, continue back on the main trail to the northwest portion of the trail, where you will find another short detour leading down to Woodland Falls. When you’ve had your fill of the majestic waterways, continue counterclockwise along the trail to finish the loop and head back along the Woodland Walk Trail to the parking lot.
