Seven Sisters Country Park Walk

Although the Seven Sisters Country Park Walk is short, there is a steady gradient that you will encounter. You will also come across multiple stiles that you will need to maneuver, making it essential to walk in comfortable walking shoes. When you reach the Seven Sisters cliffside, proceed with caution as there are no hand or guard rails present, so keep children close and maintain a safe distance from the edge.

This walk is great for families looking for something short and relatively simple. On the Seven Sisters Country Park Walk, you will be among the livestock that live there, which is a great opportunity for children to see how they live. The highlight of this walk is when you arrive at the Seven Sisters cliffside that towers over the sparkling ocean. The sights are quite magnificent and will definately be worth the walk.

Beginning at the Seven Sisters Country Park Visitor Centre, make your way to the path that is close to the main road. You will come across a post and rail fence, turn left and continue on the brick walkway and cross the road to stay on the path.

You will arrive at a gate and cattle grid, turn left to stay on the path. You will now be walking among the livestock so ensure to take care of dogs if they are not leashed. You will come across a sign post, turn left here and follow the grassy path to another gate. Continue to follow the well-worn path that is along South Downs Way. Along here you will see views of the river. Coming up to a junction, veer right and follow along South Downs Way at an uphill pace.

As you move on, you will encounter a few more gates along the path which will bring you to a flight of steps. At the top, you will encounter a gate, go through this and turn right, which will take you off of the South Downs Way path and follow the well worn path to the right. You will reach another gate, turn right and then turn left at the path junction. This area of the walk passes through old World War II remnants as you make your way down to the beach.

After enjoying yourself at the beach, continue on to another junction, where you will turn right and will walk along a grassy route behind the beach. There is a small detour that you will see that will showcase views of the Seven Sister chalk white cliffs. After this, return to the path and turn right at the track. Followed by a left at the junction and continue along this path, which separates the main channel of the River Cuckmere and the lagoons.

Towards the end of this path, you will bear right at the next junction and follow the path past a gate to the main concrete track. Turn left on this track and make your way back to the Seven Sisters Visitor Centre where you began.

In 2024, the Seven Sisters Country Park continues to offer fantastic opportunities for hiking along the scenic South Downs Way, which passes through the park.
