Mount Redoubt Trail Description
The Mount Redoubt scramble is technical and difficult. This is reserved for experienced scramblers who are comfortable with exposure.
Starting from the Fish Creek parking lot, continue up the dirt road to the back of the Lake Louise Ski Resort. You will pass underneath a ski lift before traversing a ski run to enter the forest. The beginning of this route is well marked with both Parks Canada signs and signs for Skoki Lodge. You will follow trail signs towards Skoki Lodge.
You will want to have a GPS track for this route as it is complicated. From a plank crossing a stream, you will see a drainage that is likely full of avalanche debris. This is where you will begin your climb. The drainage will take you up through Redoubt Bowl, which is a popular ski descent in winter. Trend left and then traverse the upper cliff bands to the right before continuing to the final summit feature.
There is a lot of route finding on the scramble of Mount Redoubt, so having a good idea of the route and a GPS is important to making it to the top. From above, you will have incredible vistas of Redoubt Lake, Ptarmigan Lake, Deception Pass, and Fossil Mountain.
