Bryce Canyon National Park
Utah’s Bryce Canyon National Park is famous for the epic scenery – most notably Hoodoos, the odd shaped rocks left standing after eons of erosion. Located in SW Utah, a trip to Bryce Canyon is often combined with a trip to Zion, and both offer great hiking and camping.
Beautiful Bryce Canyon is a spectacular natural wonder of the world. Best visited in the shoulder season, the camping and hiking in Bryce Canyon are exquisite. If you don’t want to camp or hike, a drive along the Highway 63 offers a wonderful opportunity to explore the park. Luckily you must take the park’s free shuttle on this highway, as the scenery is so distracting it can be hard to drive.
We love hiking in Bryce, with great walks such as Fairyland Loop Trail and Cassidy Trail among our favourites. There is also excellent camping in the park, which we recommend, however book well in advance. It’s also great to follow in the footsteps of Butch Cassidy and go on a horseback ride. These are wonderful trips, and highly recommended.
Winter is an underrated time to visit Bryce. When snow falls the views can only be described as stunning. While activities like skiing, snowboarding and sledding aren’t allowed, the park is perfect for winter hiking, provided you have microspikes!
