Villages, Valleys, and Toubkal Trekking Tour Itinerary
Day 1 Arrive in Marrakesh
Welcome to Morocco! Salam Alaikum! Arrive at the Marrakesh Menara International Airport where a transfer is waiting to take you to your hotel. If you get to Marrakesh early spend the afternoon and evening exploring this incredible city.

Day 2 Transfer to Imi Oughlad and Trek to Gliz
Begin your trekking tour by driving 54 km from Marrakesh to the trailhead in Imi Oughlad where you’ll meet your trekking team. Once the gear is loaded on the mules, hit the trail to the Imenane Valley, then climb slowly up to the Tizi n’Lbour Pass (1,500 m/4,921’). Descend again to the village of Imeskar where you’ll stop for lunch. Continue your trek after lunch through a small valley, noticing the large walnut trees along the way. The climb is easy as you approach the village of Tinghar, then continue climbing past Tidili village to reach Gliz. Spend the night in this small village.

Day 3 Trek to Tacheddirt
Leave Gliz and trek through a juniper forest to reach the Tizi n’Oukaimeden Pass (2,400 m/7,874’). Enjoy a spectacular view from here of the Ousrtik Valley and the Mount Toubkal peak in the distance. Stop for lunch at the Oukaimeden ski resort, which is Africa’s highest ski resort. Continue your hike after lunch, enjoying more magnificent mountain views to reach your overnight accommodations in Tacheddirt.

Day 4 Trek to Matat
Today’s trek begins with a descent through the Assif Imnane Valley, passing through a series of Berber villages, then climbing again to the Tizi n’Ageursiwal Pass (2,000 m/6,562’). Follow the mule tracks as they wind down to Aguersiwal village, where you will stop for lunch. After lunch, trek through the Matat Valley for about an hour to the village of Matat, where you will spend the night.

Day 5 Trek to Azib n’Tansoult
Leaving Matat, trek from the Matat Valley and trek over to the Azzadene Valley. Your route takes you over the Tizi Oudite Pass (2,250 m/7,382’) and through the villages of Ait Aissa and Tizi Oussm. After about 6 hours of trekking you’ll reach Azib n’Tamsoult (2,300 m/7,546’), where you’ll stay at the local mountain refuge.

Day 6 Trek to Toubkal Refuge
Today’s route takes you up a rugged climb, leaving the Azzadene Valley and passing the Ighouliden waterfalls. Cross the Aguelzim Pass (3,560 m/11,680’) and stop for lunch with incredible Atlas mountain views. Continue trekking to the Toubkal Refuge where you’ll spend the night in the Neltner Hut. This refuge is a popular place to spend the night before hiking to the summit of Mount Toubkal, so you’ll likely share a bunk room with other Toubkal hikers.

Day 7 Summit Mount Toubkal!
This is a long trekking day so get an early start. Begin by climbing to the summit of Mount Toubkal (4,167 m/13,671’). If the weather is clear, you will have excellent views of the Atlas Mountains and the beautiful Sahara Desert. Then hike back down, past the Toubkal Refuge, and continue along the well-trafficked trail to return to Imlil. Altogether, the trek will take about 8-9 hours, including 900 m of elevation gain, then a descent of nearly 2,500 m. From Imlil, drive back to Marrakesh, where you should arrive by 5:00 in the evening.
