This Tuscan walking tour takes you through the enchanting Chianti Region. This is a great way to explore Tuscany on foot, while tasting the world-renowned offerings of the region, including signature Chianti wine and Florentine cuisine.

This walking tour of Tuscany’s Chianti region begins in Florence, where Renaissance atmosphere and magnificent architecture greet you. Then, you’ll travel to the village of Settignano to begin your walk. Here, olive groves, cypress trees, and all of Florence sprawl below you. Walking through Greve in Chianti gives you the chance to shop at a local market before tasting over 50 of the region’s best wines.

The next stop on this Chianti walking tour continues with a loop walk of Pananzo, where you can truly appreciate the wonderful Chianti landscape. You then walk through Badaccia to a century-old chestnut forest, and then through quaint hamlets. Stop for a glass wherever you please before continuing to the old town of Radda to explore the church of Santa Maria Novella.

Day 1 Arrival in Florence

Arriving in Florence marks the start of your walking tour of Chianti. Breathe in the city air and take some time to explore Florence’s stellar collection of Renaissance buildings and squares. Walk along the flowing Arno River. Stroll to the Piazza della Signoria before finding one of the many excellent restaurants for dinner.

Day 2 Walk to Fiesole

A quick morning bus ride takes you to Settignano, where you will begin today’s walk. You’ll pass lush cypress forests, olive groves, and have a birds-eye view of Florence. The colorful town of Fiesole is a great chance to see Etruscan ruins, a preserved Roman Amphitheatre, and a Franciscan monastery before the day ends.

Day 3 Choice of walks in Greve in Chianti

This morning, take a quick transfer to Greve in Chianti, where rustic markets and excellent wine await. Once you’re checked in to your hotel, stop by Le Cantien di Greve for a tasting of over 50 of the region’s fine wines. Then, you have the choice of two routes for today’s walk. The first starts in Greve’s main square, and then leads you through the Chianti Classico region. On this walk, you get wonderful vineyard views and glimpses at the “azende agricole” where the wine is produced. The second option heads into the nearby forest, where you’ll pass through lush wild vegetation, olive groves, and vineyards. Abandoned farms beckon you for a look and beautiful villas dot the trail. You’ll take a moment to appreciate the panoramic view from Montefioralle before heading back to Greve.

Day 4 Pananzo loop walk

The next leg of your walking tour of Chianti is a loop walk based out of Panzano. The village is surrounded by undulating hills, and the trademark Chianti vineyards and forests surround you.

Day 5 Radda in Chianti

A morning transfer takes you up to the topmost Chianti hill, Monte San Michele. Your walk descends through a tree-clad valley of century-old chestnut trees before pausing in Volpaia. Grab lunch and a glass of wine at one of the enotecas before continuing on to Radda in Chianti.

Day 6 Radda in Chianti loop

Today’s walk is pleasant and relaxing. The warm Tuscan sun warms your shoulders while you tour the old centre of Radda. Then, follow the alleyways to the church of Santa Maria Novella. The roads winds up through vineyards, where you’re welcome to stop for a glass at the excellent local wineries.

Day 7 Siena

After breakfast, transfer to Siena. Siena is a stunning city packed to the brim with Renaissance history.
