Spend two days in the fantastic Canadian Rockies, scrambling in Kananaskis, Banff, or near Lake Louise depending on conditions. With all safety considerations accounted for, you’ll be able to ease into scrambling with close supervision, earning views you may never have thought you’d see. Scrambling Skills and Safety Itinerary

Day 1 Meet in Canmore and First Climbs

The tour begins in Canmore, where you’ll review the itinerary ahead, enjoy a coffee, and begin learning about basic scrambling techniques and hazards. Review how to scramble without damaging the environment, how to tell the difference between classes of terrain, how to routefind, and how to move in loose terrain.

In the afternoon, bag a summit or two with your newfound skills.

Day 2 Scrambling in the Rockies

Head out from Canmore early in the morning to find some good scrambles to try today. You could be climbing Heart Mountain, Mt. Yamnuska, Mt. Baldy, or Loder Peak.

Spend the whole day up in the mountains sharpening your skills and building your confidence. At the end of the day, you’ll return home feeling very, very accomplished!

Day 3 Optional Extra Hiking Day

If you want more time on the trails, you can pre-book an additional day to continue climbing. You’ll work on more advanced skills with a 1:2 instructor to student ratio. This day will incur an additional fee if you’d like to enjoy it (please check ‘Optional Extras’).

This guided hiking tour in the Canadian Rockies is run as a fixed-departure tour where you’d be joining a group, however, custom private tours can be organized for those willing to travel with their group only (please contact us with your preferred date and the number of people in your group and we will create the itinerary just for you).

Accommodation on this tour is not included. A variety of accommodation options exist in both Canmore, Calgary and Banff, including campsites, hostels, all levels of hotels as well as condo-style accommodation with kitchens or suites. We recommend that you book your own pre and post-trip accommodations well in advance as all levels of accommodations in the Bow Valley fill quickly.
