The Outdoor Adventures in Gaspésie tour is an exciting, guided tour of the incredible Gaspé Peninsula. Spend your days hiking and paddling in the varied landscapes of Quebec, discovering charming seaside towns, beautiful mountains, and pristine wilderness as you travel from Quebec City to the mouth of the St Lawrence River.
This tour includes scenic and challenging day hikes, including the Mount Jacques-Cartier traverse, the Mount Albert Plateau, and the Mount Vallière ridge. In between hikes you’ll enjoy sampling the local cuisine or cooking dinner over the open fire at camp. Towards the end of the trip, you’ll give your hiking legs a rest and explore the Patapedia and Restigouche rivers by canoe. Outdoor Adventures in Gaspésie Itinerary
Day 1 Travel to Bic National Park
Meet your guide and group at 8:00 am for a short welcome meeting before you begin the journey to Bic National Park. It’s about a 3-hour drive, but the incredible shores of the Saint-Lawrence are worth the trip.
You’ll go on a hike to explore the coves and inlets of the coast, which are the home to the playful harbour and gray seals.

Day 2 Hiking in the Chic-Choc
After breakfast, you’ll travel into the Chi-Choc Mountains of Gaspesie National Park. You’ll be treated to a delicious lunch featuring fresh local seafood so you can fuel up for your afternoon hike. You’ll be walking to the top of the Weeping Inlet Mountain for an incredible view over the Saint-Lawrence and the charming villages below.
Tonight, you’ll set up camp in the national park.

Day 3 Mount Jacques-Cartier Trek
Your hike begins early today, as you’ll be traversing Mt Jacques-Cartier to the Lake of the Americans. This 17km trail will bring you up onto the exposed alpine plateaus as you hike the east face of Mont Jacques-Cartier. Along today’s epic trek you’ll cross to Mount Comte and Mount Xalibu before you descend to the Lake of the Americans.

Day 4 Mount Vallière-de-Saint-Real Ridge Hike
Today you’ll be heading to Mount Vallière for a beautiful hike with stunning views along the ridgeline of the mountain. Most of the hike is out in the open as you’re hiking in unprotected alpine areas, so make sure to dress so that you’re prepared for the wind and weather changes.
Tonight, you’ll be camping in a ready-to-camp wilderness hut.

Distance: 4-5 hours, 12km, 535m of elevation gain

Day 5 Hike to the Mount Albert Plateau
You have another big, beautiful hike in store for you today! To reach the Mount Albert Plateau you’ll have to hike up over 300 meters before the terrain levels out. Then you’ll cross this enormous alpine plateau while climbing over exposed roots and boulders. Be sure to keep an eye open for caribou and unique rock formations along your hike.

Day 6 Explore the Cascapedia Riverside
Your journey today will be along the Cascapedia River as it runs towards the sea. You’ll stop for a short hike that follows the river to the village of Maria. Enjoy a delicious lunch at a local microbrewery in Carleton.
In the afternoon you can choose to take an optional sailing excursion that explores the beautiful Chaleur Bay.

Day 7 Explore Carleton
Spend today exploring this beautiful area, visiting the seaside shops or take one of the many hikes that explore the coast. You have the evening free to discover the local nightlife.

This tour is mostly based in camping accommodations. You’ll be staying in a mix of wilderness sites and ready-to-camp locations. Your tent and camping supplies are provided for you. There are few nights where you’ll be staying at small hotels or local inns in between your camping nights.
