14-day Vietnam Adventure Itinerary

Day 1 Welcome to Vietnam

Welcome to Vietnam. Upon arrival at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, the guide will lead the way to your awaiting driver. You will be privately transferred to your accommodations and you can explore the city at your own pace for the remainder of the day.

Day 2 Cu Chi Tunnel

Have breakfast at the hotel and depart for Cu Chi tunnels. The trip will take approximately one and a half hours drive. Upon arrival, you will have a short introduction followed by an introductory video about how the tunnels were constructed, and how the people survived in the harsh conditions of wartime.
Then, spend your time exploring the remaining area and tunnel systems, which included the living areas, kitchens, and bedrooms side by side with other martial facilities like storage, weapons factories, field hospitals, and command centers. All this was to help people living inside the tunnels meet their basic needs. Besides, there are many hidden trap doors and dangerous traps within the maze-like tunnels for security purposes during the war. Afterwards, special tea and cassava (guerilla food during the war) will be served.

Day 3 Trekking to Cat Tien National Park

Begin today with a drive to Nam Cat Tien National Park. The park was established in 1998 and is comprised of two separate areas, Nam Cat Tien and Cat Loc, which are linked by the Dong Nai River. Nam Cat Tien is well known as a tropical rainforest with high biodiversity and a variety of fauna and flora.

Enjoy the lunch at the restaurant onsite. Continue to discover the national park with a walk into the jungle, observing the plant and animal life. You can also explore on your own, biking through the jungle.

Day 4 Crocodile Swamp Tour and Trekking to Ferry Terminal

Have an early breakfast in the lively forest. Today the Jeep will take you to the Crocodile Swamp, the home of not only Siamese crocodiles but also a lot of rare birds which are recognized by the Red Book Animal Protection of Vietnam and the world.Take a ferry ride to learn more about the freshwater Siamese crocodile.

Afterwards, you’ll transfer to Ho Chi Minh City for a flight to Hoi An via Da Nang Airport.

Day 5 Biking and Farming Tour to Tra Nhieu Village

This morning you will be picked up at the hotel for a cycling adventure to the countryside of Hoi An to the Tra Que village. The host will tell you about local life as well as the rice and vegetable farming here, and you may take photos of the water buffalo or the local farmer working on their rice fields.

Arriving in the village, you will be warmly welcomed with special lemon basil tea before strolling around the vegetable garden to see how the locals farm.

Stop for a relaxing foot massage before a local cook shows you how to cook the Hoian pancake. Lunch will be served with all local foods before you have some free time, or you can lie on the hammock before riding back to your hotel.

Day 6 Hoi An Lantern Making Lesson

Enjoy a hearty breakfast at the hotel and get ready for a lantern making lesson. Lanterns are the symbol of Vietnam and a big part of the local culture of Hoi An. Your guide will meet you at the hotel and you will cycle through the town to the craftsman home. You will be given an introduction about the lanterns and how it became the symbol of Hoi An, along with a demonstration of making a lantern. You will have an opportunity to create your own lantern and keep it as a souvenir.

After the lesson you will have time to explore Hoi An at your own pace, seeing what interests you.

Day 7 Journey to Hue by Train

Experience one of the best scenic train routes in Vietnam from Da Nang to Hue. A short 3hr train ride passes through picturesque countryside, then skirts on the side of a mountain as you travel along the coastline. Meet locals on board and make new friends on the journey.

Day 8 Biking to Thuy Bieu Village

Explore a different side of Hue by visiting its rustic old villages. It is a good chance to learn about the culture and people of Vietnam and experience the local lifestyle.

This morning your guide and driver will meet you at the hotel and drive you to Thuy Bieu Village. Upon arrival, have a welcome drink at the local house before taking a cycling ride around the village to see the daily life of the local people. During your cycling trip, you will visit family workshops for incense making, joss paper making and paper painting.

After the village, you will be back to your host’s house to have a relaxing foot massage. Then have a cooking lesson from a chef. The chef will teach you to cook some famous local meals. Enjoy the meals you cooked for lunch and have some rest before getting back to your hotel.

Day 9 Travel to Hanoi

Enjoy a free morning. Afterward you will be transferred to the Hue airport for your flight to Hanoi. Upon arrival you will be met at the airport and transferred to your accommodation.

Day 10 Explore Hanoi in Depth and Transfer to Sapa

Step into the home of Mr. Liem, a passionate seventh-generation puppet maker and performer. He is the creator of the mobile theater and new puppet designs. Visit his humble home and listen to his story and to understand how his love for this traditional art grows. Then have a private show in his small theatre and learn the basic techniques of using bamboo rods to move puppets through the water. Tonight, the driver will take you to the train station for a ride to Sapa.

Day 11 Trekking to Lao Cahi and to Ta Van Village

Today is devoted to a beautiful hike through the breathtaking scenery of Sapa valley. Admire the rice terraces hidden behind mist of the morning, a truly awe-inspiring sight. Follow a small track and cross Muong Hoa River and pass well-tended rice terraces on your way to the Black Hmong village of Lao Chai. Continuing through the colorful rice terraces, you will reach the village of Ta Van Giay. As you continue your trek along the Muong Hoa River, you will cross a small suspension bridge roughly 2km from the settlement. Here you can discover a fascinating collection of rock carvings. Eat lunch in a home in the village.

After lunch the walk continues through a bamboo forest to Giang Ta Chai, a Red Dao ethnic minority village. After taking a rest near a waterfall to refresh, you start climbing uphill to a road where the car is ready for your journey back to Sapa.

Day 12 Taphin Village Experience

Have breakfast at your hotel. You’ll drive down to Lao Cai and then to Taphin village. Here you can experience the unmixed cultural life of Black Hmong and Red Dao minorities, the two largest ethnic groups in the area. They live happily together while maintaining their own traditions from generation to generation. The trip also offers you the opportunity to visit the local houses.

You will return to Sapa by car and then board an overnight train to Hanoi.
