This is a special trip as you get to take a spectacular helicopter flight deep into the park, with all your gear. No slogging up a long trail with a heavy backpack full of food and tents for you.
After you set-up camp, you’ll then trek some of Canada’s premier trails, including Berg Lake, Robson Pass, Snowbird Pass, and Mumm Basin. You’ll camp each night in unbelievable locations, waking up to have your coffee under a canopy of mountaintops. Berg Lake Backpacking Tour Itinerary
Day 1 Meet and Drive to Mount Robson Provincial Park
Begin your adventure with a meet and greet with the group in Canmore. You’ll drive along one of the most spectacular highways in the world, the Jasper Parkway, into Jasper. From here, continue west on the Yellowhead Highway to Mount Robson Provincial Park. Set up camp for the night.

Day 2 Helicopter to Robson Pass and Berg Lake
Start your morning with a helicopter ride (don’t get to do that often, hey?) to the northern side of Mount Robson, landing near Robson Pass at 1600m. You’ll be able to hear the icefalls from Berg Lake as you explore the alpine meadows that surround you.
Set up camp in this stunning place, walking over to Berg Lake to watch as the sun dips below the horizon.

Day 3 Day Hike to Snowbird Pass
Waking up in paradise, you’ll start the day with a hike to Snowbird Pass. You’ll trek through vast meadows and moraines to the pass, where a superb view of the Reef and Robson glaciers can be appreciated.
Return back to camp and spend the evening relaxing with the group.

Day 4 Day Hike to Mumm Basin
Another day of hiking under Mount Robson awaits! Today you’ll hike north of Berg Lake to Mumm Basin, which has a fantastic view of Berg Lake and the north face of Robson. Traverse along the valley to Hargreaves Glacier, making a loop that ends back at camp.

Day 5 Berg Lake to Whitehorn
After breaking camp, pack it all up and head down the valley. Today features three very special waterfalls. You’ll pass White Falls, Falls of the Pool, and Emperor Falls along the way- three fantastic photo spots!
At Whitehorn Camp, you’ll set up for the night.

Day 6 Return to Canmore
All too soon, you’ll be on your way back to Canmore. Drop into the lower valley to skirt Kinney Lake, hiking through the lush forest to the trailhead. Hopping back in the van, you’ll head to Canmore. Your group can go out for dinner in Canmore tonight if you’d like, toasting to the past 6 days on the trail!

Berg Lake Backpacking Tour Price and Dates
This guided hiking tour in the Canadian Rockies is run as a fixed-departure tour where you’d be joining a group.
Please note the Berg Lake Trail is closed until further notice for assessment and repair. It was impacted by severe flooding in 2021, resulting in significant damage to many sections of the trail.
Accommodation on the Berg Lake Backpacking Tour
This tour is based in campsites. You’ll be in 2-3 person tents with no or limited facilities. Participants should be comfortable with an authentic backcountry experience.
In some cases, the accommodation listed below may need to be substituted for other comparable accommodations.
Single Rooms and Solo Travellers
There are no single rooms available on this tour as all accommodations are communal. There may be a minimum required group size, so please contact us about joining an existing group if you are a solo traveller.

Transportation During the Tour
Participants are responsible for their own transportation to Canmore and will be driven from Canmore to the trailhead. We recommend renting a car or booking a shuttle. Canmore is about an hour from Calgary.
