The last 100 kilometers of the Portuguese Way from Tui to Santiago de Compostela offer an ideal journey for families, divided into manageable stages of 17 kilometers or less each day. Starting in Tui, pilgrims will traverse historic towns and cities such as Pontevedra, Caldas de Reis, and Padrón, each with its own unique charm and cultural significance. Along the route, pilgrims will encounter iconic landmarks, including the Cathedral of Santa María de Tui and the medieval bridge of Ponte Sampaio, adding depth and historical context to the pilgrimage experience.
Throughout the journey, pilgrims will immerse themselves in diverse landscapes, from crop fields and vineyards to wooded areas and river walks along the Louro River. With each stage, there are opportunities to savor local cuisine, such as the renowned "chocos en su ink," and to relax and rejuvenate at idyllic locations like the Caldas de Reis Thermal Village. Camino Portugues: Slower-Paced from Tui Tour Itinerary
Day 1 Arrive in Tui
Arrive in Tui where your adventure begins! The streets of the historic center of Tui allow you to make contact with the Portuguese Camino de Santiago. You will put the first seal on your Pilgrim's Credential at the Cathedral of Santa María de Tui, the only Cathedral in the Province of Pontevedra.
In Tui there is the International Bridge over the Miño River, which connects Spain with Portugal. We recommend crossing it and accessing the fantastic Fortress in Valença do Minho, witness to the relations between Portugal and Galicia for more than 800 years.

Day 2 Hike to O Porriño
In the morning, transfer back to O Porriño to continue your trip. Next to the Cathedral of Santa María de Tui you will begin your Camino and step by step you will reach the Church of San Bertomeu. Crop fields, vineyards, wooded areas, river walks along the Louro River will accompany you in this stage. Very close are the Gándaras de Budiño. At the end of a beautiful river walk is O Porriño. In the evening, transfer back to Tui.

Day 3 Walk to Redondela
After moving to O Porriño, you will begin your stage by leaving its last houses. Your journey will take you through the villages of Veigadaña and Mos, leaving the Santiaguiño Chapel behind and arriving at Redondela, where you can see the Pontevedra Viaduct and the Madrid Viaduct.
You will have enough time to enjoy their most typical dish "chocos en su ink", then you will be transferred to an idyllic mansion, located in a rural setting in Redondela.

Day 4 Continue trekking to Arcade
Once in Redondela you will soon leave its historic center and ascend to the outskirts of Cesantes, where you will enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of the Rande Bridge and the Ría de Vigo.
You will continue your Camino uphill, first between houses and then through a wooded area. You will descend to Arcade, entering the town through its most urban area, ending the stage at the medieval bridge of Ponte Sampaio, witness of the War of Independence against the French.

Day 5 Hike to Pontevedra
Today you will begin the stage next to the Verdugo River and you will ascend between granaries and houses until you reach a wooded area.
Continue to Vilaboa, until you reach the Chapel of Santa Marta, where you will seal your Credential. A few meters further on is the Senda Fluvial do Río dos Gafos that will take you to the entrance of Pontevedra, the "boa Vila". On your right is the RENFE train station and shortly after you will begin to access the historic center of Pontevedra. Once you reach the Church of La Peregrina, with its characteristic shell-shaped floor plan, you will finish the stage.

Day 6 Hike to San Amaro
From the historic center of Pontevedra you will advance to the Roman bridge of O Burgo. On the other side of the bridge, houses and the A Xunqueira de Alba Natural Park and its marshes await you. The Camino enters a more rural area full of small waterfalls and at the end you will find San Amaro. Transfer back to Pontevedra to spend the night.

Day 7 Continue Trekking to Caldas de Reis
Start your morning with a transfer to San Amaro. The next stage runs through meadows this morning as you leave behind small towns like A Portela, Briallos and Tivo. A little before Briallos, a very good option is to take a detour to visit the Barosa River Waterfalls, located in the Ría Barosa Natural Park. You will reach the Church of Santa María de Caldas de Reis, shortly after you will cross the Umia River and finish the stage next to the Burgas Thermal Spring and the Church of Santo Tomás de Caldas de Reis. At the Caldas de Reis Thermal Village you can take a relaxing bath in one of its spas.

Day 8 Hike to Pontecesures
You will cross the historic center of Caldas de Reis through its cobbled streets and crossing its Roman bridge over the Bermaña River. Through a wooded area you reach O Cruceiro.
Houses and meadows will take you to the Church of Santa Mariña de Carracedo and passing through the villages of As Cortiñas and Gorgullón. A wooded area with small waterfalls appears before you, with the roar of the Valga River in the background, and leading to the Church of San Miguel de Valga. A couple of kilometers more and you will reach the Pontecesures Roman bridge over the Ulla river where today’s journey ends.

Day 9 Walk to Parada de Francos
From Pontecesures, after 2 km, you will reach the Food Market in Padrón, located on the banks of the Sar River, and you will see the "pimenteiras" selling the most typical product of the hometown of Camilo José Cela and Rosalía de Castro, the Pepper. A few meters further on is the Church of Santiago de Padrón, where the Padrón is located, to which the Disciples of Santiago tied up the stone boat that brought the Apostle's body from Palestine.
The back of the Iria Flavia Collegiate Church says goodbye to Padrón. It is worth highlighting the villages of A Escravitude, Cruces, Angueira de Suso, Picaraña and O Faramello, especially the latter, where you can make a stop to visit the Pazo do Faramello and its beautiful gardens. A few meters further you will reach your end of the stage: Parada de Francos.

Day 10 Arrival in Santiago de Compostela
Soon you will reach Osebe and the Tinto River and among forests and small villages you will reach the Chapel of Santa María Magdalena in O Milladoiro. If you look up from here you can already see the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela.
Passing through the Ponte Vella over the Sar River, before you know it you will be at the height of the Alameda de Santiago. A little further on you will enter the historic center of Santiago walking along Rúa do Franco. At the end, the Plaza del Obradoiro, you will be in front of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, therefore finishing final stage!
