The Portuguese Camino: Tui to Finisterre starts from the border town of Tui, located on the banks of the Miño river that serves as a natural border between Spain and Portugal. The natural, historical and monumental heritage that you will find in Tui will be a magnificent opening to begin the route of this way.
In the following stages of the Portuguese Way from Tui to Finisterre you will walk north. It is a very welcoming route, with some ascent on some of the days, but it will not be particularly difficult.
Starting from the town of Padrón and until reaching Santiago de Compostela, you will replicate the same route followed by the remains of the Apostle Santiago. Once you arrive in Compostela you will have a rest day to get to know the city before resuming the Camino to the end of the world.

Portuguese Camino: Tui to Finisterre Itinerary
Day 1 Arrive in Tui
Arrive in Tui on your own. You will spend the first night in Tui bed and breakfast. This city is characterized by its historical-artistic complex. It is recommended to visit the historic old town and the cathedral. Also the international bridge, which connects Spain and Portugal. You can also use the day to visit Valença do Minho (there is an open air market on Wednesdays).

Day 2 Hike to Porriño
This stage is probably one of the most difficult but most beautiful of the entire trip. You will cross the Miño River and ascend to Ribadelouro. It may take some time as a large part of the itinerary goes through asphalt and urban areas, but pilgrims who want a more natural environment have been given an alternative that crosses the As Gándaras Natural Park to O Porriño. This alternative is also well marked.

Day 3 Climb up and then descend to Redondela
The climbs of this stage are difficult, but the beautiful views from above are worth it. As soon as you reach the charming city of Mos, you will find the first climb to the Alto de Inxertado. As soon as climb it, begin a gentle descent towards Redondela.

Day 4 Cross lush forests on your way to Pontevedra
Start walking towards Setefontes and Arcade (famous for its oysters). Accompanied by the Vigo estuary, you cross lush forests until reaching the historic bridge “Puente de Sampaio” towards Pontevedra.

Day 5 Quiet route to Caldas de Reis
Quiet and pleasant route. You move away from the bumps of the previous sections to enter a much flatter and more level terrain. Pass through different villages until you finally arrive in Caldas de Rei, where pilgrims who want to relax can relax in one of the famous spas.

Day 6 Enjoy the landscapes on your way to Padrón
Today's stage is one of the most beautiful and varied in terms of landscape technology. Vineyards, grain fields, the Bermaña valley, chestnut forests, eucalyptus... Enjoy agricultural Galicia. In Padrón, and don’t miss the opportunity to try the famous peppers.

Day 7 Reaching Santiago de Compostela
The last stage of the caminos. You will cross the N -550 road several times and be guided by the railway line. First hike towards Iria Flavia and then begin an ascent to “O Milladoiro” to finally see the towers of the cathedral as you approach Santiago. The desire to arrive is combined with the pain of parting, knowing that this unique experience is over.

Day 8 Rest day in Santiago de Compostela
Day in Santiago de Compostela to take a break and enjoy the city with a guided tour of the Old Town and a tasting of Galician cheeses.

Day 9 Hike towards Negreira
You are leaving Santiago. Behind is the Plaza del Obradoiro and the imposing cathedral. Hike towards Negreira. This first stage has a simple and comfortable landscape. The only section that is a little demanding is the climb to Mar de Ovellas. Cross the Tambre River through Ponte Maceira and arrive in Negreira.

Day 10 Long hike to Olveiroa
A difficult stage in terms of length, but it is rewarded by the impressive landscapes. On this day, you completely move away from the urban and cobbled worlds to enter imposing oak and chestnut forests. You have to face climbs like Monte Aro, but up there you have a fantastic view of the Fervenza reservoir, into which the Flux Xallas flows.

Day 11 Descent to Cee
The river Xallas continues on the way to Hospital. There is a fork that shows the way to Muxía for those who want to do this variant. In this case, however, you follow the Cee direction. Pass the Cruceiro Marco de Couto, the Hermitage of Nuestra Señora das Neves and the chapel of San Pedro Mártir until you reach Cruceiro da Armada, where you see the sea for the first time. Here begins a steep descent to Cee.

Day 12 Arrive in Fisterra
Start this day by hiking towards Corcubión, a charming fishing village that has been declared a historical art site. The Atlantic accompanies you on this quiet walk to Cape Fisterra, your long-awaited destination along the entire Camino. If time permits, you can enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets at the "end of the world".
