Trek from Logroño to Burgos on a second stage (out of five) of the Camino Frances

If you want to walk the Camino Frances but don’t have almost six weeks to dedicate to the journey, then why not walk an individual shorter stage each year? This self-guided walking tour is the second stage of the Camino Frances, and goes from Logroño to Burgos.

The Camino Frances is an ancient pilgrimage that draws pilgrims from around the world. Some come to follow the footsteps of millions of other pilgrims that have passed this route over centuries and contemplate life. Others join the pilgrimage to experience the history, but also the gastronomy, wine, and culture of Spain. No matter why you decide to join the Camino Frances, you won’t soon forget this incredible experience.

This section of the Camino Frances goes from Logroño to Burgos, and begins in the capital of the wine region “La Rioja”, one of the most famous in the world. The entire historic center of Logroño preserves traces of the city’s important Jacobean tradition, in which the arrival of 11th century pilgrims was fundamental to its development. Proof of this are monuments such as the pilgrims’ fountain. The city of Logroño was already mentioned in the Calixtino Codex, which is considered the first travel guide on the Camino de Santiago. Of course, on the first day of our trip, it is important to take a stroll down the famous Laurel Street.

In the first stages you’ll hike through landscapes with olive groves, almond trees and, of course, vineyards. You’ll walk through the La Rioja region, enjoying the undulating landscape. As soon as you leave La Rioja to enter Castilla León, the route becomes flatter, and you will walk through another city with a great Jacobean tradition, Santo Domingo de la Calzada. The historic center, with medieval streets and a magnificent wall, is of national historical interest.

You’ll near the end of this second section of the Camino Frances, and while looking on the beautiful Burgos Cathedral you’ll have time to reflect on the memories and had experiences that will live with you for years.

This tour is part 2 of the 5-section complete Camino Frances:
