7-Day São Miguel Island Tour Itinerary
Day 1 Arrival in Ponta Delgada
After your arrival to São Miguel, you will be picked up at the airport and transferred to your hotel to check in. Depending on the time of day, you can either settle in for the evening or set out to explore.

Day 2 Hiking Serra Devassa and Nascentes do Canário
Today is a full-day adventure to discover the volcanic complex of Sete Cidades. This hike, although challenging at times, will expose you to a picturesque landscape of hidden lakes, aqueducts, and water springs, all of which are surrounded by endemic vegetation.
Eventually, you will arrive at the highest point of Sete Cidades: Pico das Éguas. This circular trail starts at Muro do Carvão, where your guides will describe all of the different points of interest that you will visit during the day and teach you about the geomorphology of the island.

Day 3 Van Tour in Furnas
Day 3 of the tour will explore the volcanic origins of the island in Dimas, a magical place full of geothermal activity. After the pick up in Ponta Delgada at 9 am, your van tour will take you to visit a local tea factory before reaching the viewpoint over Furnas: Pico do Ferro. Afterwards, you will make your way to the Caldeiras das Fumas to visit the famous fumaroles and taste mineral waters from different springs.

Day 4 Whale Watching and Van Tour to Lagoa do Fogo
Today you will set out on a whale and dolphin watching expedition, where you will have the chance to view more than 25 cetacean species, as well as turtles, seabirds and other marine life. Before the boat trip, biologists will provide a briefing on which cetacean species can be observed, how we respect the animals and rules of observation at sea, historical facts of the region, and safety measures aboard.
Back on land, you will set out on another van tour where you will be able to see the beauty of the Nature Reserve of Fogo. During this tour you will witness volcanic activity, bathe in the natural warm waters of Fogo volcano, and learn more about the electricity production in Sao Miguel.

Day 5 Hiking Faial da Terra and Van Tour in Nordeste
Day 5 of the tour will combine one of the most beautiful hikes in Sao Miguel with a comfortable van tour to Nordeste into one experience. Throughout the day you will visit a hidden village in the mountain, called Sanguinho and refresh yourself in the amazing waterfall Salto do Prego, which is especially nice during the hot summer months.
After this wonderful hike, you will stop in the center of Faial da Terra village to relax and enjoy the old whalers harbour, before continuing on for the second half of the day. Next, the road will take you to various viewpoints on the coastline of Nordeste.

Day 6 Jeep Tour to Sete Cidades
The last full day of activity on the tour will see you undertake an active adventure that combines dirt paths with kayak and bicycle activities at Lagoa das Sete Cidades. To make it even more of an adventure, you will be able to enjoy this wonderful landscape from a different perspective while driving in a jeep!
On the tour you will be taken to the top of the Sete Cidades Caldera, stopping at some points of interest such as Pico do Carvao, Pico da Cruz, and the Lomba do Vasco viewpoint along the way. A small stop will be made in the center of Sete Cidades village, followed by the famous viewpoint of Vista do Rei.
