Well, it’s been a hectic couple of months and we’ve been quiet as we’ve worked to relaunch our new website, 10adventures.com. This redesign has taken a lot of the valuable feedback we’ve received over the last year. We have more cool stuff for the site which we will launch in the upcoming months, so keep checking back.
The biggest change you’ll notice is that we do more than just hiking on 10Adventures. We still provide guidebook-quality route guides in the most beautiful places on earth, but we’ve expanded to 10 Incredible outdoor activities. We now have XC Skiing, snowshoeing, backpacking, scrambling on the site, with mountain biking, road cycling, ski touring, city walks and climbing coming later this year.
If you’re interested in contributing your local knowledge for any of these new activities, please let us know!
France’s Epic GR5
Richard Campbell, founder of 10Adventures, shared the humbling experience he had hiking the GR5 with his wife. Read on to learn more about the GR5 (a 435.0mi mountain path across the French Alps), and the highs and lows of trail life with your significant other.
10 Best Places on the GDT
Ah, the Great Divide Trail, 702.0mi of Canada’s most beautiful landscape! This month, we have two fun articles from our Natasha Birnbock, our contributor for this wonderful trail. The first post is a visual journey through the best places Natasha visited on the GDT. We also interviewed Natascha, a seasoned thru-hiker, who chose to take on the GDT in one of the most grueling years on record. She shares the challenges she faced, including wading waist-deep in snow, and her personal experience on the differences between the PCT and the GDT.
The Pacific Crest Trail
Last month, we spoke to David Xiao to hear how he wound through 2653.0mi of American wilderness from Mexico to Canada on the PCT. Read his story and the challenges he face and what ultimately motivated him to undertake such a journey. David also shares some tips if you want to hike the PCT yourself!
Winter in the Lake District
Many people put their hiking boots away each autumn, however locals know that some of the best walking can be found on winter days, when you have your favourite valleys to yourself. Newsletter reader Paul Muir shares his insights into winter walking in the Lake District, where you can have some incredible days out with friends, both human and canine.
Choose the Right Pair of Snowshoes
There is still lots of winter left in the mountains, so you still have time to start snowshoeing this year. We’re here to share some advice based on your requirements and tell you everything you need to know about buying your first pair of snowshoes.
