Spray Loop Bike Trail Description
The Spray Loop bike trail is a multi-use trail that sees many different types of adventurers. This wide and accessible trail features excellent river views, wildflower blooms, and a shaded rest area at the halfway point. There is a backcountry campground along the east side of the trail for those keen to try some overnight bikepacking.
From the parking area, cross the bridge leading to the Banff Springs Golf Course. Take an immediate right towards the river, where you will find a trail that runs parallel to the riverbank. After 0.6mi, you will come to another bridge on your right. Cross here on the Spray Connector and join the west side of the loop. This can also be accessed from the Banff Springs Hotel, where there is a Spray West parking area.
Make your way past the picnic area and up a hill for a few hundred metres. Take a left at the top, joining the Goat Creek Trail or Spray West. You are now on the west side of the loop. Enjoy the rolling road for just over 2.5mi. You will catch stunning views of surrounding peaks and the river below.
Come to a junction with a shaded bench area and a trail sign. You’ll find trails continuing into Canmore via Goat Creek and Spray West. You’ll stay left from the trail you came in on and cross another bridge. This is a great rest area that many people use to sit by the water and cool off.
Once you cross the bridge, you will continue back the way you came but on the east side of the river this time. The trail here becomes a single track route passing by the Spray River campground. After 3.0mi, you will pass the Mount Rundle scramble route trail on your right. Continue on the trail until you reach the golf course and Bow Falls parking lot where you started.
