West Rim to Wildcat Canyon Trail Description
The West Rim to Wildcat Canyon Trail is a great hike to find peace and solitude in Zion. This trail is moderately long, so take lots of water, and wear good sun protection. Keep an eye out for wildlife- mule deer are often seen grazing along the path. If you do see wildlife, do not feed them, and give them lots of space. This trail passes through meadows and forests, and is a beautiful little hike to enjoy the beauty of the desert away from the crowds of the main canyon.
Starting from the Trailhead near Lava Point, follow the West Rim Trail southeast. The Wildcat Canyon trail will branch off on your right straight away. Follow the trail as it winds south/southwest through meadows and forests. About 1.9mi in, you will pass Wildcat Spring where you can fill up your water if you need to. Remember that this water is only safe to drink once treated. 2.7mi past the spring, you will reach a series of divides in the trail. Stick to the right to stay on track to the Wildcat Canyon Trailhead.
The Wildcat Canyon Trailhead is the official turn-around point for this route. There are many more trails in the area should you want to extend your time exploring around Wildcat Canyon.
