Camp Creek Trail Description

The Camp Creek Trail is a very secluded little box canyon in the Kolob section of Zion National Park. This route is unmaintained and overgrown, so don’t expect a manicured path. You may want to wear long pants in case you find yourself bushwhacking, and be prepared for wet feet if you’re visiting in the springtime or after a storm. Despite its challenges, this trail is really quite lovely and only gets more beautiful the further down you go.

The mouth of Camp Creek is blocked by dryfall, so you’ll need to skirt up and around to get to the trail. Follow the old access road north to the water tank, and pass through the NPS boundary gate (don’t forget to close it behind you!). An old trail will guide you back south to the creek bed. From here, pick your own adventure up the creek, heading east. The start of the trail can seem banal but keep an eye out for the “Two Portals” rock formations about 1.5mi in. Past these two stone spires, the trail only gets more beautiful with unique rock formations and erosion patterns decorating the canyon walls.

After approximately another mile and a half, you will reach the end of the box canyon. At the end, take a rest, then turn around and follow your path back out.
