The Union Falls Trail is a fantastic hike in the Wyoming wilderness. This trail is long but relatively flat and can be hiked in one, big day. Union Falls itself is an incredible 280ft-tall waterfall. These falls are the second tallest waterfall in Yellowstone National Park.
Getting there
This hike begins at the Fish Lake Trailhead in the Winegar Hole Wilderness Area.

Union Falls Trail Description
The Union Falls Trail is a gorgeous hike on the southern border of Yellowstone National Park. This is a long hike; if you plan to complete this whole route in one day, start early in the morning and bring a headlamp in case you wind up finishing in the dark. With over 17.0mi of trail to explore and a spectacular waterfall at the end, the Union Falls Trail is a great way to spend quality time in the Wyoming wilderness with loved ones.
Beginning at the Fish Lake Trailhead, follow the path north and cross over the Fall River. At the Fall River Cutoff Campground, take the trail on your right, then follow it as it runs parallel to Mountain Ash Creek to Union Falls.
Enjoy your time at Union Falls. At 280ft tall, these waterfalls are the second largest falls in Yellowstone National Park.
When you are ready to head home, simply retrace your steps back to the Fish Lake Trailhead, where you began.
