The Crevice Lake Trail Description
The Crevice Lake Trail is a fantastic day-hiking and backpacking route in Yellowstone National Park. The last few miles of trail to the lake are exposed with little shade. Make sure you pack sunscreen, wear a good sunhat and bring plenty of water. Blacktail Deer Creek is nearby for the whole hike, so we recommend bringing a water filter or water treatment so you can refill your water bottles along the way. Crevice Lake itself is a beautiful, pristine lake. If you are a keen fisherman, you can try your luck at catching trout in the crystal clear waters.
Beginning at the Blacktail Trailhead, follow the path north along Blacktail Deer Creek. The trail divides twice in the first mile; stick to the path on your right at both of these divides to make your way north to Crevice Lake.
Enjoy your time exploring the shores of Crevice Lake. When you are ready to head home, simply retrace your steps back to the Blacktail Trailhead where you began.
For a longer hike in the area, check out the Black Canyon Trail.
