Sometimes you want the panoramic views without miles and miles of effort, right? The Red Top Lookout Loop is a high reward to effort ratio hike, which is perfect for those wanting lots to see without lots to hike. The loop is a mile total, and while it’s somewhat steep, it’s suitable for most.
Begin from the trailhead. Hike to where the trail splits and keep left onto Red Top Trail. You’ll head up a briefly steep section to reach the lookout. Savor the 360-degree views before heading down the mountain, going right and then taking a sharp right onto Teanaway Ridge Trail. This will take you back to the trailhead.
