Lake Wenatchee North Summer Route

Lake Wenatchee State Park is the ideal spot for a day of summer fun. A picnic, a swim in the lake, a hike with family, the sunset painting the water- are you convinced yet? Make the most of the north end of the park with this quick, easy little hiking loop. The entire family should have no problem completing this hike. It’s flat, short, and offers great lake views. There’s one steep section on this hike but it’s very short-lived.

This route is for summer hikes. The access requirements and recommendations for the park differ in the winter. The trail is well-groomed and kept in great condition.

Begin from the parking area at the end of the road past the reservation office. Begin by heading right, which is the easier way to do the loop. If you want a touch of incline near the end, go left.

Follow the North River Trail near the road for a few steps before turning to walk alongside the river.

Walk against the river flow as the path approaches the lake. There are access trails if you want to get onto the riverbank directly. At the lake, the trail heads up to hug the shore, passing driftwood logs and makeshift lean-tos. Take your time inspecting the beach before turning right, away from the water.

Take another right to approach the camping area again. Side note: you can book a spot ahead of time if you’re interested in staying a night or two up here.

You’ll walk along the camping area’s upper edge back to where you began. Now, toss down your picnic blanket or get changed for a swim!

Lake Wenatchee

Lake Wenatchee is a glacier and snowmelt-fed lake in the Wenatchee National Forest. It hugs the eastern side of the Cascades. The lake itself is 2,480 acres and 244ft at its deepest point. It’s the site of a state park with camping, kayaking, and hiking, thus making it a popular destination for travellers and locals both in the warmer months and in the wintertime.

The lake is wonderful to swim in. There is a beach on the south side of the park with a designated swimming area, but you can also swim in other parts of the lake.
