Lake Edna is a gorgeous spot and the hike there on Chatter Creek Trail is a fantastic challenge. The scenery can distract you from the leg burn… maybe. Expect light traffic on this trail. There is plenty of water on the way if you prefer to filter. There are also plenty of bugs, so bring a good spray.

Lake Edna via Chatter Creek Trail Description

Hike to beautiful Lake Edna for a classic alpine lake experience minus the crowds. This is a hard hike with lots of elevation gain, but it’s a worthwhile trek.

The trail is fairly flat for the first mile until you reach the Chatter Creek bridge. Expect the next mile and a half to be much steeper as you travel through the trees. At 2.5mi the trail evens out through a valley. Soon after, you’ll need to navigate through a boulder field and climb up a ridge. Reach the pass at 4.5mi and savor the views. From here, you’ll drop down to the other side of the pass and then climb another 1.3mi to the lake. From here, you’ll retrace your steps to the trailhead.
