Tonquin Trail Description
Hiking along the Tonquin Trail will provide some breathtaking views over the water that you won’t soon forget. The route is easy enough to follow, even without the many hikers that frequent the trail. For this reason, it’s best to arrive early to the trailhead or attempt the route at off-peak hours for a bit of seclusion in the beachside atmosphere.
The trail sets out from Tofino and passes through some slightly hilly and forested terrain on the way to the coast. Here, the trail branches off in all directions, depending on which beach hikers would like to access. The route first passes by Tonquin Beach before continuing along the water’s edge towards Third Beach. You will find a beautiful viewpoint overlooking Middle Beach at the end of the trail a little further along. With so many opportunities to look out over the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean, you will likely have a difficult time dragging yourself away from the serene coastal atmosphere to head back along the trail to reality.
