The Mount Princeton Lucky Mine Hike is a great adventure that provides the perfect conditioning opportunity. The well-marked, manageable terrain reveals awe-inspiring vistas of Colorado’s mountainous wilderness. Trek through pine forests up to the southern slope and let the fresh mountain air fill your lungs. Be sure to pack plenty of water, the altitude and continuous climb will undoubtedly tire you! Additionally, you will be sharing the route with off-roading vehicles, so be sure to keep an ear out for passers-by.
Embark on your adventure along the Mount Princeton Lucky Mine Trail from the parking lot and trailhead off County Road 322. From here, track west along the Lucky Mine Road. This path will guide you through enchanting woodlands, weaving back and forth up the southern slope of Mount Princeton. Continue climbing and you will eventually encounter an intersection with the Mount Princeton Trail. Keep left here and track the Mount Princeton Trail up a set of switchbacks. At the next junction, keep left, and you will be guided to the Lucky Mine and Mount Princeton Chalet.
Revel in the scenery of the snow-capped summits that flank the verdant forestlands below, and be sure to take plenty of photos. Relax, rehydrate, and when you are ready, retrace your footing along the path back to the trailhead.
