Presidio Loop Trail Description
The Presidio Loop Trail would make an excellent addition to your hiking itinerary, offering amazing views of the Golden Gate Bridge, the Pacific Coast, the area’s blooming wildflowers, and more. Though this route is well-revered, many paths are poorly signposted, so we encourage the use of the trail GPS. Additionally, due to this route’s proximity to the coast, you can expect varying weather conditions—notably wind and fog, so we encourage you to dress in layers!
Embark on your adventure along the Presidio Loop Trail from the trailhead off Arguello Blvd. Setting out from here, you will be guided eastwardly along the Mountain Lake Trail out to the Lyons Step Overlook. From here, merge onto Lovers’ Lane and wander through the corridor of looming trees into MacArthur Meadow. From here, hike along Barnard Avenue and onto the Ecology Trail up to Inspiration Point. Revel in the views of the Golden Gate Bridge, then meander northwest along the outskirts of the Golf Course to the National Cemetery Overlook.
Merge onto the Park Trail and then connect with the Bay Area Ridge Trail to the Immigrant Point Overlook. Tracking north to the Presidio Landmark, you will eventually reach Mountain Lake. From here, follow West Pacific Avenue back to the trailhead.
